Not too long ago, my daughter, Abigail, told me she wanted to share her story.

As her mom, I knew it wouldn’t be easy to read.

Every family has moments that divide life into “before” and “after.” Ours began when Abigail was very young. Almost overnight, the happy, carefree little girl we knew began struggling with challenges that left us frightened, confused, and searching for answers.

For years, we did what most parents would do. We sought help. We asked questions. We prayed. We researched. We celebrated small victories and endured heartbreaking setbacks. Along the way, our family’s understanding of health, healing, and even faith was transformed.

People won’t all agree on what happened to Abigail, and that’s okay. This isn’t an attempt to win an argument. It’s simply the story of one little girl, one family, and the journey that changed us forever.

In a Disconnected World As a child, I was in trouble a lot. Sometimes it was because of something I did wrong—but often, it was
